This morning I was disconnected 2 times from the live feed:

I am a new user without any experiences regarding the quality of the live feed, so my question is very simple: is that normal or not.

This is certainly not "normal" unless you (or some other IQFeed compatable software on your system) were initiating the disconnections. If you can tell me which server(s) you were connected to, I can look into this further.

Here is a copy of my log - and nothing in my software will ask for a disconnect - I want to be up running all the time, and will only close down after the market close 4:15 PM ET. If I have a disconnect a server program running parallel with the feed will start a new process. :

You are not alone. I have an application that used to work for over three years without issues, but as soon as the client/server upgrades have happened I get disconnected on a continual basis. It is extremely frustrating because I need to monitor forex all the time.

In my opinion DTN's quality control is essentially non-existent.

By the way, do you get the callback when you set up SetCallbackFunction()? I had to bypass the login confirmation because I get no callback. This is the same simptom a friend of mine is getting on his setup...

Sorry for the delay in responding. We have had some issues with the 148 server farm that might (not guaranteed) explain some of the disconnections. Our server team is working on these issues and they will be resolved as soon as possible. However, you are also getting disconnected when connected to the 156 server farm which indicates that there has to be another issue causing the disconnects (either "in addition to", or possibly "in replace of" the serverside issues that might be causing problems on 148).

Troubleshooting network issues is always difficult and will be especially difficult since it is apparently something that is intermittant. Do you have any other software running on your computer that maintains a connection to a server and that you can easily access disconenct information? If so, do they remain connected when you get disconnected from the IQ servers?


laszlokiss, please email developer support with some more information (what language your app is written in, anything unique about your app, etc) concerning your callback issues and I am confident we can work through them.

I have other software running on the same server OS 2003. That software is connected to one of your competitors, and I have no disconnection or loss of data from that connection. It is only for your feed the disconnection happens.

I can confirm that this instance was probably on our end due to a hiccup in that server at that time.

This disconnection was also server related.

Is this log complete? Meaning, did you not receive any data between 2:15AM and 3:15AM for @ES#? Or do you only log F and P messages?

What I show you is the log for system_message, FundamentalMessage and SummaryMessage. Then I have a log for QuoteMessage, where no problems have been found.

I was disconnected 3 times today. This never happened before the last rollout (July) and it is not everyday, but this is the second day this week with disconnects.
