I'm running IQFeed on Linux using WINE and I'm having issues when I close an open connection to IQFeed. Basically this is what happens:
1. Start IQFeed (wine IQConnect.exe ...) 2. Telnet 127.0.01 5009
At that point, everything looks good I get a timestamp every seconds. The problem occured when I close the connection.
3. CTRL+C or kill -9 PID
After this command, the telnet process is terminated and IQFeed is terminated right after. The same thing happens if I connect programmatically using PHP or Ruby for example.
I didn't see any error messages though one might have been logged somewhere but I couldn't find any log file.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

This is by design. Closing the last connection to IQFeed will cause it to shut down. You need to maintain a connection to Iqfeed through the admin port so you can interact and ensure it is running.

--- Original message by DTN_Jay_Froscheiser on May 15, 2011 08:14 AM I did a few tests and even if I have an admin connection open IQFeed still exit. Does the admin/client connection needs to send a command so it doesn't exit?

My aplogies for the misinformation philhg. As Jay said, a connection needs to be maintained but instead of the Admin port, it needs to be maintained on the Level 1 port. IQConnect automatically shuts down as soon as all Level 1 ports are disconnected.
