Hi - I looked through the help guide and came up empty. I don't know enough about ProphetX to go much further and would like to know how to do the following:

* I want to add in 'bandwidth' to an existing Bollinger Bands chart. Bandwidth = (top BB line - bottom BB line)/middle BB line. I currently have the top/middle/bottom BB lines on an existing chart...

* The f(x) standard studies side section didn't have a create option when I right clicked on it. Other studies did, but not BB...

* I understand the existing BB stuff in ProphetX and would like to add in this element. So, did I just miss this in the documentation somewhere or can you tell me how to add in this custom calculation for live usage? Not much to it; just grab the three numbers, do some math and throw up a resulting number at the bottom of the existing chart, updated live, creeping along with the current chart....a small 'chart within a chart' kinda thing.

Hello Ama,

ProphetX does not have that feature built-in at this time, but we have escalated your request to our product management teams for consideration in a future release.

I will try to investigate if there is a way to achieve what you need through our custom studies features though and let you know shortly.

Tim

Ama,

I think I have it for you.

If you create a new custom study and use this formula

(MOV(SERIES,20)+(2*STDEV(SERIES,20)))-(MOV(SERIES,20)-(2*STDEV(SERIES,20)))

I believe that will give you what you need. If you need help creating a study, here is a link to that help page to assist you.

Let us know if you have questions,

BOLL(SERIES, 20,0,1, 2.0)-BOLL(SERIES, 20,0,2, 2.0)

This formula is a little cleaner and gives the same results if you wish to use this instead.

AHA! You da Mon, Tim...I'll try your suggestions, but it will probably be later in the week or the weekend before I get to it.

Nice to know I didn't miss something in the doc, for once... I'm pretty green on ProphetX and only know what I know for my basic setup. Most of my efforts have been on the DTNIQ side of the house in the past.

I wasn't aware of the custom studies features until I poked around the other day. There are a few custom chart goodies I'd like to explore when I have more time, so this will come in very handy.

Thanks again...
