"Boy, probably spent a thousand hours trying to get ******* API to work right. And now two hours to have something running with IQFeed. Hmmm, guess I was pretty stupid to fight rather than switch all this time. And have gotten more customer service from you guys already than total from them… in five years." - Comment from Jim
"I would just like to say that IQFeed version 4 is running very well and I am very happy with its performance. I would also like to extend a big thanks for the fast and efficient help that I always receive. My questions and concerns are always addressed promptly. Way to go!" - Comment from Josh in CO.

"This beats the pants off CQG, I am definitely switching to the ProphetX 3.0!" - Comment from Stephen
"Thanks for the great product and support. During this week of high volume trading, my QuoteTracker + IQ Feed setup never missed a beat. Also, thanks for your swiftness in responding to data issues. I was on ******* for a few years before I made the switch over early this year, and wish I had done it a long time ago." - Comment from Ken
"Everything is working great ! Very impressive client. The news refreshes better and is more pertinent than the ******* feed I paid $ 100/month for. I Also like the charts a lot." - Comment from Leon
"Previously I was using *******. IQFeed is WAY more economical, and for my charting needs is just as good, if not better." - Comment from Public Forum Post
"You have an excellent feed. Very few spikes for Spot Forex." - Comment from Public Forum Post
"I cannot believe what a difference it makes trading with ProphetX!" - Comment from Bruce in Los Angeles
"Just a quick one to say I'm very impressed so far :) The documentation for developers is excellent and I've quickly managed to get an app written to do historical downloads. The system is very robust and pretty quick considering the extent of data that's available. The support guys have been very helpful too, in combination with the forums it's been plain sailing so far!" - Comment from Adam

IQFeed Developer Support » Disconnects Oct 9, 2015 04:11 AM (Total replies: 22)

Two brief disconnections (of about 10 seconds) over the last couple days. But at 03:13:36 (ET) this morning it disconnected and hasn't been able to reconnect; attempted reconnections approaching 7000 at 05:10.

Now I'm getting P records with no data. Do you do maintenance on Saturday mornings, perhaps? That might explain today's problems.

Thanks, Tim. I received the link and am now running on 5.1.3.199. Time will tell if it resolves the reconnection issue; it didn't solve the previously reported problem of not connecting on the first attempt, which requies me to stop and restart my software.

IQFeed Developer Support » Disconnects Aug 27, 2015 05:33 AM (Total replies: 22)

A Disconnect occurred again this morning at 2:03:22 (Eastern). It's now 6:30 and Reconnections is 0, and Attempted Reconnections is at around 15900 and still climbing. Our Internet connection is fine, as you can see. I have logging turned on and will send the file (or part of it) if you wish. I will just leave things as they are for now until I hear from you.

Tim,
Things have stabilized now. We have been up for almost three and a half hours. Reconnects and Attempts have not changed since my last post.

Tim,
I’m using 5.1.3.1. Sorry, I didn’t think to check for reconnections before restarting. But since the restart about an hour and a half ago we have 2 reconnections and 64 attempted reconnections. Seems like quite a lot of attempts.

Disconnected again. Reconnected automatically, but took 53 seconds.

We have had several disconnects this morning, after one of which IQFeed Connection Manager did not reconnect. After a couple of tries we were able to get reconnected, but then got another disconnect followed by the error message "Socket Error: 10054 (WSAECONNRESET)."

Eric

Steve,
Thanks for the response. The firewall has been open for IqConnect for several years on this computer. Otherwise I would not be able to get data after the second or third try--or for the last several years. Something else is going on that is relatively new. As I said, it is not crippling, but is a nuisance.

Eric

Patrick,

Thanks for the information. My network is hard-wired, and I am trying to connect with only one computer at a time; so that doesn't seem to be the solution for me.

I hadn't noticed the new version, so just installed it; Still getting the same result. Guess I'll have to wait for DTN to look at the logs. It's a minor nuisance, but fortunately doesn't interfere with operation here.

Best wishes,

Eric

I had been hoping to see something further about this, since I have been having the problem too. In my case, it fails frequently on the first attempt to start IqConnect, but succeeds on the second attempt. Sometimes I can get it to work when it appears to fail by clicking on Connect, but most times this doesn't work.

I have had another problem with the 5.1.2.5 hanging when I disconnect, preventing me from subsequently starting up. In these cases I must kill the IqConnect process in Task Manager, but this is not usually the problem.

Here's a partial log when it fails:

IQFeed Developer Support » Could not connect to History socket. Dec 22, 2014 07:48 AM (Total replies: 8)

Steve,

Thanks for taking the time to explain the cause of this message. Understanding what's going on in the code behind sometimes-cryptic error messages is an immense help.

Best to you and Tim this holiday season.

Unfortunately, the "Could not connect to History socket" is still with us.

Eric

IQFeed Developer Support » Could not connect to History socket. Dec 19, 2014 10:12 AM (Total replies: 8)

Tim,

Put this one on hold for a bit; I may have found the source of the problem.

When I ran my software on a faster computer this morning, it appeared that some of the lookup data were getting processed out of order. Since I put all data in a queue as soon as it comes in, this seemed impossible. I have since traced the problem to a too-small lookup buffer; data were being truncated, not rearranged. Because we have upgraded our LAN and Internet speed lately, data are coming in and filling the buffer more quickly. I doubled the size of the buffer, and the problem disappeared. My suspicion is that this was also causing the problem connecting to the history socket, although it may take a day or so to make sure it too has gone away.

IQFeed Developer Support » Could not connect to History socket. Dec 18, 2014 06:06 PM (Total replies: 8)

Tim,

I added code to track my requests and IQFeed responses, but for a while I thought it was going to be a variant of the Heisenberg principle: observation changes the behavior. But on a restart this afternoon I got several examples (attached). One is an expired or expiring contract, but two are high-volume contracts. I'll appreciate hearing if there's something I am doing wrong. As I mentioned earlier, however, the majority of the requests succeed without this error. (Note that I have added a horizontal rule to separate the contracts, and in the successful responses an ellipsis [. . .] to shorten the file.)

Eric

IQFeed Developer Support » Could not connect to History socket. Dec 18, 2014 10:29 AM (Total replies: 8)

Tim,

Since I had never seen this error before, I don't have any code to log it to disk. I'll put something in today, but it may be tomorrow before I can get you results.

It happened again a few minutes ago on another startup. It occurred to me that it might be a connection problem, but IQFeed didn't report a disconnect, and the Connection Manager showed no Reconnections or Attempted Reconnections.

Thanks for the quick response.

Eric
