I have been working with your tools and demos for a week now, and still not able to see data.

1. I have registered with the feed to get NYMEX data and seem to be logging into the feed ok, and the IQConnect appears to be running fine.
2. I have perused your document and I believe I have taken all the steps necessary to run your demos.
3. Apart from a single "Failed to receive options for CLF5" error message, diagnostics.exe reports good connections to all services and good reception of CLF5 data.
4. SymbolLookup.exe did bring up a list of names for CLF.
5. IQWatchQuote appears to run fine - except that no data displays for CLF5, or any other symbol entered.
6. I have verified that port 5009 is open in my firewall. Are there any other firewall concerns / ports I should be aware of?
7. I have been focusing all of my attention now on the DDE sample spreadsheet. I understand that the IQConnection must be running on SysTray, and a client app must be running that makes a client connection via product name, etc. (I was using IQWatchQuote to do this) before starting up the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet seems to be making the DDE connection in the background, but the final result is nothing but #N/A across the cells!

I have tried everything I can think of to get going, and my customer is getting impatient for some movement on this project.

Thanks for any help you can give.

You won't get options on CLF5, you need to request options on the root symbol only. Thus, enter CL and you will get options on that root contract.

If you don't get data on any symbol, it most likely is a problem with your connection to the quote server, or the request itself. We do have data for CLF5. You need to have port 60000-about 60050 opened over the internet. The 5009 port is local only and usually not a firewall problem. Also make sure you enter symbols in all upper case.

You don't need to have anything running except IQFeed (IQconnect) in order to use DDE. When you open excel wtih a DDE link to IQLink in it, it will ask if you want to start the app. It will open IQlink, and then it will ask if you want to update data. Make sure you enter yes to all prompts. You don't need to have any other apps running for DDE to work. We have sample spreadsheets available at ftp://www.dtniq.com/iq which should work out of the box as long as you have IQFeed running (use the IQLink Launcher).

Verified that diagnostics does return options for CL.
Verified that ports 60000 to 60050 are persistently open through firewall.
All tests done with uppercase symbols. Using sample spreadsheet only.
Tried in another machine at another location.

Still no further. Spreadsheet still displays #N/A in all cells.

Any other details I may need to consider?

to put options in DDE formulas, you must wrap the symbol with single quotes because of the space in the symbol.
