This weekend and today there have been many server disconnect messages. Before exiting my program I checked the status of the IQConnect Icon in the system tray. It was unresponsive. After exiting my program, the IQConnect manager was still showing - I had to use the Task Mnaager in WinXP to close it. This is using IQFeed version 2.3.0.8.
Because of the non-responsive nature of the IQConnect manager it becomes part of the problem because when my program restarts there are now two IQConnect.exe's present (if one does not notice it) and the results of any queries to the new one are suspect.
FYI: I just started my program again and it started reclycling getting disconnect message and then connect then disconnect etc. This behavior has been present at times in IQFeed versions starting before this latest beta series. In my program I had to put in a counter to stop re-starting if beyond a certain count - this limits the number of legitimate restarts however if one just lets it run for days. In the past I felt that my program somehow was causing this loop (could not really find the cause, even re-wrote the start sequence) but I am suspicious now that there is an inherent start/stop re-cycle error that can be triggered in the IQConnect Manager and the DTN server that it is logging on to. Other posts in this forum allude to this also.
My program just self terminated due to the start cycle count being exceded. The IQConnect.exe did terminate and exit properly upon my program exit.
GL!
