Yesterday the zip file containing mktsymbols.txt was extremely small, leaving out most symbols.
Today there were major errors as follows: AAF SG AET JUL 2008 P 13500.000 OPRA AAF SR AET JUL 2008 P 190000.003 OPRA AAO BK QCOM FEB 2008 C 155000.002 OPRA AAO CO QCOM MAR 2008 C 17500.000 OPRA CQE BV CEPH FEB 2008 C 0.125 OPRA CQJ CS CROX MAR 2008 C 9500.000 OPRA CYQ RD CSCO JUN 2008 P 0.020 OPRA
just to show a few.
When can we expect these problems to be corrected?

These are 2 separete issues.
We are still working on tracking down the cause of the small file that is occasionally produced.
As for the seemingly invalid strike prices, I have reported this to our market data group for investigation.

The invalid strikes had to do with OPRA itself. The new encryption for OPRA Fast broke, forcing them (OPRA) to restart everything at 9:45 AM on that date. It was not just IQ Feed but every provider who takes OPRA Fast (SPRY for instance is another provider who's option databases became completely corrupted on that day).

As Jeff indicated, these were initially sent by the exchange. These should be cleaned from the IQ servers this weekend at which time they will stop appearing in the mktsymbols.txt file.

When will this be fixed? As of today, 2/5/08, the errors are still in mktsymbols.txt.

rodney, I apologize for the mis-information. I was under the impression that these would have been purged from our database during last weekend's maintenance. Apparently I was wrong. I am currently waiting on a response from our operation's team as to when we can expect these to be gone.

Any update here? Do you think we can count on a fix this month? I only ask because I'm almost to point of finding another source for the data. For it to go this long without a fix is simply unacceptable. Edited by rodney trotter on Feb 7, 2008 at 05:23 PM

Just an update to this issue. These symbols were removed from the IQ Quote servers and databases as expected this past weekend.
However, they still exist in the mktsymbols.txt file. Our server team is investigating why they are continuing to populate in this file.
