I just have a trial with Ensign software and I could not download any tick data.
When I asked Ensign they said I should be able to.
So what am I doing wrong?
I did put a dash before the symbol and some other ways but no luck.
Can you help?

Could you provide some more information such as what symbol you are trying to access? None of our symbols have a dash. Please visit our website and look at the symbolguide for information on symbology.

Hi Jay,
It is I suppose Hyphen and not a dash.
It looks as follows.
USH5 " -50 " for 50 tick data.
OR
SPH5 " -100 " for 100 tick data.
Is that correct?
Thank You, Tom

I am not familar with the need to put a number in with the symbol in Ensign. You should only need to put the symbol in, then choose the interval of data you want. You may have to choose the "Refresh from Server" option to pull back the data. We do have tick data for both of these symbols. If you are looking for the electronic contracts, put a "@" in front of the symbol "@USH5" and this will provide you the electronic contract data which includes tick volume.

Hi Jay,
In Ensign when you click download button, you have to put both Symbol and time period in two seperate boxes. There is a seperate timeframe box in which you put D, W, M and for minutes just a number like for sixty minute data download just put 60 in timeframe box.
But for tick you have to put a hyphen in front of the number.
For example to download one hundre tick bars you have to put -100. At least that is what Ensign has shown in their sample.
What do you suggest to enter for 100 tick bars. If I simply enter 100 then it will download 100 minute data.
I could not find any attachment facility in this e mail otherwise I could attach a GIF screenshot and so you what I mean.
I hope you can help.
Thank You, Tom

Tom,
Here is what I did. I am running the "New Ensign" beta build of Nov 30 with IQFeed 2.3.
After I logged in, I clicked the Chart Icon in Ensign. There is a dialog with my symbols on the left, then a Time colume, Tick colume, Range column and Volume Column.
I chose MSFT in symbols, Time was blank, and in Tick was "-100". Range and volume blank. I then clicked Open and received a MSFT chart. Because I haven't run Ensign for a while, it had 100 ticks but was from weeks ago. Thus, I right clicked the chart, chose the refresh menu and chose 3 days. It took a few seconds, but it loaded the tick data for the past 3 days into my chart.
Hopefully by following these steps you will see the same result.
Let us know!
