I am experiencing a new login problem that started in the past few days. The login has been working and I am doing the final testing for my application. The login still works on my Windows 8 test computer but does not work on the Windows 7 test computer.

My application is using the socket connection to DTN created by calling iqconnect.exe. I am using IQFeed Version,5.1.2.5. The iqconnect.exe shows the message Retrieving IP information and pauses, never moving past this point.

Below is my log file named: IQConnectLog.txt I see the items LookupError,L2Error,L1Error in the log file but I am not sure what this means. Can you suggest a solution?

Hello, this sounds like the other machine is not able to connect to our servers for whatever reason (Retrieving IP information is the first point of communication).

As a result, my initial guess would be to look at firewall/router settings to make sure both machines are configured the same.

If that doesn't point out the problem, please enable to debug logging level (via the Logging tab in the Diagnostics app) and post a new logfile. Hopefully that will help identify the problem or at the very least point us towards the correct next troubleshooting steps.

I had been hoping to see something further about this, since I have been having the problem too. In my case, it fails frequently on the first attempt to start IqConnect, but succeeds on the second attempt. Sometimes I can get it to work when it appears to fail by clicking on Connect, but most times this doesn't work.

I have had another problem with the 5.1.2.5 hanging when I disconnect, preventing me from subsequently starting up. In these cases I must kill the IqConnect process in Task Manager, but this is not usually the problem.

Here's a partial log when it fails:

Dear Eric,

I posted the original message. The problem I had was caused by multiple computers using the same wireless internet connection. When I disconnected all computer but the one I was using DTN with and the login did not hang.

I see there is a new version iqfeed_client_5_1_3_1 which may solve a problem you had with 5.1.2.5

Good luck
Patrick

Patrick,

Thanks for the information. My network is hard-wired, and I am trying to connect with only one computer at a time; so that doesn't seem to be the solution for me.

I hadn't noticed the new version, so just installed it; Still getting the same result. Guess I'll have to wait for DTN to look at the logs. It's a minor nuisance, but fortunately doesn't interfere with operation here.

Best wishes,

Eric

Eric,

Have you allowed IQ Connect through Windows Firewall as of yet? Go to Control Panel and Windows Firewall and in the upper left of the screen will be a "Allow a program through Windows Firewall"

You will need to Allow another program through and browse to find the correct program.

The pathway is C:\Program Files (x86)\DTN\IQFeed. Look for a program listed iqconnect.

Steve,
Thanks for the response. The firewall has been open for IqConnect for several years on this computer. Otherwise I would not be able to get data after the second or third try--or for the last several years. Something else is going on that is relatively new. As I said, it is not crippling, but is a nuisance.

Eric,

Please keep in mind Windows Updates can alter your current settings for your Operating System. I would still double check your firewall settings.

At this point we would like to further troubleshoot your connection issue. Please find your IQ Feed Connection Manager in your system tray and right click on it follow it to Support and Launch Diagnostics.

Once you have the Diagnostics launched you will go to the Logging Tab and check the box "All Logging" and save changes. This will start a log running on your system.

Please attempt your reconnect several times till it connects. You will be able to find this log file in your DTN folder under C: Drive/Program files(x86)/DTN. Please send this log file to support@iqfeed.net and go back in and shut logging off so it does not continue to create a file which will continue to use your hard drive space. Please also provide your IQ Feed Login with your email so that we can verify your account settings.

I have the same problem here. Windows 2012 server. The difference is that in the first attempt to log in, it works ok. If I close it, and try to connect again, I cannot pass the login screen. I can make it work again just rebooting the machine.

When you say you cannot get past the login screen, is that because the connect button is grayed out? If so, it may be related to how you launch the application. It might be worth contacting me via the development email concerning your connection code and then I can help you get around the issue you are seeing.
